About
Eastern Tsuga College is home to a diverse and dynamic athletics program that blends traditional sports with more unconventional ones, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering a well-rounded and active student body. Students can participate in popular varsity sports like soccer, basketball, and track and field, where the Gallant Goshawks compete fiercely against rival teams, most notably, Strawbridge College.
In addition to these staples, Eastern Tsuga embraces innovation by offering less conventional sports, such as quadball and ultimate frisbee. These newer sports have quickly gained a passionate following on campus, with enthusiastic players and fans making them an integral part of the school’s athletic identity.
Cheerleading at Eastern Tsuga
Cheerleading at Eastern Tsuga College was disbanded in the mid-80s following a serious incident with rival Strawbridge College. The exact details remain unclear, but the incident led to a decade-long ban on cheerleading. After multiple failed attempts to bring it back, the sport was finally revived in the 2024 fall semester with the formation of a new freshmen-only cheerleading club.

The Gallant Goshawk
The goshawk is a native bird of prey found in the forests of New England, including Connecticut, with a long-standing presence in the region’s ecosystems, making it a natural choice to reflect the college’s connection to its environment.
Goshawks are known for their sharp vision, quick reflexes, and adaptability—traits that mirror the qualities valued in both academics and athletics at the college. Just as the goshawk soars through dense forests with precision and skill, students at the college are encouraged to navigate their academic challenges with focus, determination, and adaptability.
On the field, the Goshawks are represented by Gary the Goshawk.
